Tale of a stone

Once upon a time there was a huge marble block
With a defective area people used to mock
It lied in a garden forgotten, dreaming of a future,
Wishing to be the world’s most famous sculpture.

The Great Prince offered the marble to many artists
He wanted them to make one huge figure from it
He only had one very strict condition:
Slicing is impossible and he forbid the partition.

Great masters tried to sculpt the marble endlessly
But their attempts ended unsuccessfully
One of them even ruined it so badly
That the marble was left behind bruised, sadly.

Years passed when a young man undertook the challenge
And carved David, the most beautiful of the men
This young sculptor was a genius without a flaw
He was no else but the one and only Michelangelo.

Since then, the poor marble block is not poor at all
It is the most famous sculpture you ever saw.
This is the tale of a stone, the tale of mankind:
Dare to dream big and walk the road you’re assigned.
